About Miranda
Miranda Rawson defines herself as someone who will always try her best to do right by the horse. Ever since she can remember, she has had a deep love and connection to horses. As a young person, she would spend hours with her family's herd out in the pasture observing their behaviors and interactions with each other. Miranda strives to work with the horse based off of their nature and ways of communication.
Miranda's thirst for knowledge and drive to be involved in anything to do with a horse has led to a wide array of experience in multiple disciplines and breeds. She spent her young adult life eventing her OTTB Kramer. After high school, she moved to Weatherford, TX, where she worked as a loper for her grandmother's cutting horse program, Brazos River Cutting Horses. During her time there, Miranda trained with cutting horse trainers Jon Burgess and Shane Hall. After moving back to SC in 2012, Miranda went on to drive carriage horses in downtown Charleston and began to develop her colt starting and training business. Through 2015-2022, Miranda attended horsemanship clinics with West Texas horseman, Buster McLaury. For continuing education she is working with David Donnelly (Landrum, SC) and Patricia Cleveland (Dothan, AL). Miranda is currently completing course work to become a certified STEP trainer (certified by Patricia Cleveland).
Miranda implements her diverse experience with traditional and natural horsemanship in her "methods". She believes good riding, handling and groundwork all connect with each other in building an effective and well rounded relationship with your horse, no matter the discipline or breed. Miranda has worked with gaited horses, stock breeds, Thoroughbreds, Warmbloods, Arabians, Iberians, drafts, mustangs, ponies and mules. She embraces the idea that we are all students of the horse and is constantly seeking opportunities to further deepen her knowledge and understanding of the horse.
Good horsemanship is not a "one size fits all" type of package. Miranda believes good horsemanship is a multi-faceted philosophy that deserves a wholistic perspective in order to best serve the horse. Through a program layered with good handling, balanced riding, trail exposure, proper nutrition, turn out and applicable bodywork, you can be assured Miranda will find the way to bring out the best in your horse.
