"Once you have seen quality horsemanship and are exposed to the things you can do to help a horse be gentle and dependable, why wouldn't you do those things?" -Buck Brannaman

Good horsemanship should not be discipline or breed specific.

All training programs are tailored to each horse and rider's specific needs and goals, but the same result is in mind-- a soft, light, balanced and confident riding horse.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the horses fed?

The horses have 24/7 access to quality hay in slow feed nets or round bales (mixed grass hay, orchard, alfalfa/Timothy/orchard mix). For meals, the horse’s diet is tailored to their individual needs, but the basis of the diet is forage-based: alfalfa pellets, beet pulp pellets, forage cubes (all soaked beforehand), equipride mineral and vitamin E. Harder keepers and horses in heavier work will receive additional calories in the form of Coolstance Copra (coconut meal), Buckeye Cadence, Essential K ration balancer or Safe Choice. Salt is added to every meal and free choice mineral is available at all times.

*If you are more comfortable with your horse staying on it's current feed regimen, please provide enough feed for your horse during his/her stay.

Will my horse be given any supplements?

The only provided "supplements" while your horse is boarding here are salt and vitamin E. If your horse is used to getting certain supplements, please bring them with your horse. Trainer may recommend supplements or herbs based on how your horse is behaving, performing or appearing.

I am bringing my horse to be started under saddle... what should I make sure they know before they come?

To best prepare your horse to start his / her training, it is most helpful for them to know how to lead, pick up their feet and load on the trailer. Anything further than that can lead to possible retraining that might take extra time.

Can I visit my horse?

Absolutely! Please give trainer 24 hours notice before coming to see your horse. 3 lessons per month are allotted in each training package. Lessons must be scheduled at least one week in advance.

When do I need to pay?

The first 30 days payment is expected on the day you drop off your horse. Payments for additional months will be expected 30 days after the first payment.

What type of bodywork is available for my horse?

Making sure your horse is feeling good is imperative to ensure you get the best out of your training program. MNR highly recommends The Balanced Horse Project for horses coming into the training program. For more information, please contact MNR.

What type of turn out is available for my horse?

Turn outs are provided for every horse. Depending on the needs and personality of the horse, turn out is either group or solo. All turn outs have sturdy and safe shelters for shade and bad weather. All horses are provided with daily turn out.
